Where would San Diego build an Olympic Stadium, and an Olympic Village, the size of the ones in Bejing?

I would like for the summer Olympics to be held in San Diego. I would also like to see surfing become an Olympic sport also. I doubt if either will ever happen.

Hosting the Olympics today isn't even worth it, which is why few countries even bother bidding. The bidding pocess itself cost tens of millions. Where does the money go?

Montreal Held the Olympics in 1976 and it was a complete diaster. They just recently paid off the debt, 30 years later. The Olympic Stadium (The Big Oh) wasn't even completed on time for the games, and turned out to be the Big Owe; massive debt.

I think San Diego is most limited by its airport. The airport has little international service other than transborder flights to Canada or Mexico and one airline with flights to London. Other than that, the city offers no other nonstop flights to international cities. Residents of Pacific countries would need to fly to LAX or SFO for example and then drive, fly, or take the train to San Diego. This accesibility may be the biggest problem for SD.

Winter Olympics are totally different. Salt Lake City is actually a fairly large city for Winter Olympics. The witner Olympics require ski resorts and mountains to be used. There are few cities directly next to mountains that can be converted for the Olympics other than Salt Lake City and Denver. Just look at some of the places winter Olympics have been held and tell me how many of these sound like major international cities: Nagano, Japan; Lillehammer, Norway; Albertville, France; Innsbruck, Austria; Sapporo, Japan; Lake Placid, New York, United States. As you can see, SLC is one of the bigger cities to host the winter Olympics. I believe Vancouver will be the biggest city ever to host the winter games.

Summer games on the other hand tend to be in well known and large international cities: Mexico City, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Seoul, Sydney, Barcelona, Athens, Rome, Moscow, Munich, etc... are all big names on the international scene.

For a city with a metro area of over a million people, the diversity stinks. Its visible in some areas, but overall its pretty flat white-bread city USA.
The area overall is boring. There are plenty of outdoor activities, but thats it. No nightlife, no hanging out at downtown during the day doing stuff, nada.
So first it has "zero international presence" and now "it's visible in some areas"?

For a city of under 200,000, SLC really has an astounding variety of ethnic restaurants. We also visited the Mormon temple downtown (and yeah, their downtown was nice, but not terribly interesting), and it was filled with people from all over the world and a little international village within it.

And for clarification--when I said Salt Lake City was diverse, I said Salt Lake City was diverse. I didn't say Provo/Ogden/etc was diverse.
