Who doesn't love Coronado? It's the quintessential Southern California town. With it's vibrant main street, wide sandy beach, good schools, close proximity to everything (airport, downtown, Balboa Park, etc), what more do you need?
Destination Coronado, as seen from the Coronado-Bay Bridge (Don't worry, I wasn't driving when i took this pic)
Looking towards downtown from the bridge
Orange Avenue, the town's main drag
While it looks like you can drive straight into the city, don't forget that the Bay separates the two
Downtown Coronado
Ahhh....the beach, with Point Loma in the distance
Taken from my beachchair....
The famous Hotel Del Coronado in all it's glory (Built in 1888)
Beachfront houses as seen from the wide beach
Beautiful homes
Do your sidewalks look like this?
One of my favorite houses on the Island
Look what $1.25 MILLION DOLLARS gets you in this neck of the woods?!?.......Welcome to California!!!
Heading back home.....
There's Cowles Mountain in distance, which was the hike I took you on earlier in this thread
Hope you enjoyed the tour!!

hmmm...maybe b/c SD is a HUGE county and people don't take leisurely drives through SoCal traffic just to take pics for sum1 in VA.

My grandfather was stationed in SD while in the Navy during WWII. He could have bought a home there for 50 grand. Now you can't get one for under 1 mil. When i found out about that, i was so pissed. We coulda been rich. Instead, he moved back to Newburgh, NY which is an ugly old disgusting city on the extreme ouskirts of the NYC suburbs.

Wow, Coronado has really changed from the last time I was there.
I also got a good laugh at the little house for $1,250,000.

Anyone have any pictures of where the poor people live? Haha. I'll be sure to take some when I move there next month!

Well, I gotta say that I'm a bit surprised at all of the recent criticisms posted here.
Just so you know, I haven't posted pics of strip malls, big box centers, sprawling suburbs and run down apartments, etc, because I didn't think anyone wanted to see them. I'm sure those things look the same in every city across the country. We all know those things exist here as well.
The purpose of this photo thread is to show stuff uniquely San Diego. I thought I've done a nice job of sharing stuff about this city that are off the beaten track. It can't be helped that many places happen to be located in the nicer parts of town. Remarks like what about the poor people and showing only "fancy" or rich places isn't true. You don't have to be rich to go to the beach, shop downton, watch a baseball game, walk the boardwalk, hike a mountain, etc. Except for shopping and watching the Padres - everything is FREE
This thread is open to anyone, if you have pics to share - please do!
I've noticed that I seem to be the only one posting pics here regularly in order to keep this thread alive. Perhaps this thread has lived on longer than it should, and that I should just let it go and have the moderator remove the sticky so it will go away.
Sorry if I sound defensive, but I just never expected people to be offended by my pics. I just thought pics would tell a better story about places than just reading about them.

I don't think anyone was offended. I just wanted to see some pics of places I might actually be able to live. Not necessarily run-down but just some of the regular areas so I could get a feel of what it's really like to live there. That wasn't a criticism of your pics, they're all great and I'm not saying they shouldn't be represented here... I just wanted to know if anyone had any more to show some other aspects of SD. Esp. because whenever I tell people I'm moving to SD, almost everyone immediately remarks on how expensive it is, and how impossible it will be for me to live there. I know that isn't true and that there are more affordable (well, so-cal affordable anyway) places to live and frequent, but everyone always thinks of every place in socal as huge mansions and barbie dolls and impossibly expensive luxury and most of these pics definitely support that line of thinking. Not that that's bad, but yeah, just wanted to see the other side - no biggie!!

I really enjoy this thread. Besides LA, SD is my favorite city. You have shown me beautiful areas that I have never seen before.
