Just so you know, I haven't posted pics of strip malls, big box centers, sprawling suburbs and run down apartments, etc, because I didn't think anyone wanted to see them. I'm sure those things look the same in every city across the country. We all know those things exist here as well.

The purpose of this photo thread is to show stuff uniquely San Diego. I thought I've done a nice job of sharing stuff about this city that are off the beaten track. It can't be helped that many places happen to be located in the nicer parts of town. Remarks like what about the poor people and showing only "fancy" or rich places isn't true. You don't have to be rich to go to the beach, shop downton, watch a baseball game, walk the boardwalk, hike a mountain, etc. Except for shopping and watching the Padres - everything is FREE

This thread is open to anyone, if you have pics to share - please do!

I've noticed that I seem to be the only one posting pics here regularly in order to keep this thread alive. Perhaps this thread has lived on longer than it should, and that I should just let it go and have the moderator remove the sticky so it will go away.

Sorry if I sound defensive, but I just never expected people to be offended by my pics. I just thought pics would tell a better story about places than just reading about them.
No you should keep it. It's a great thread. Lots of interesting pics of a beautiful city. Even though only a few people have posted pics I think a lot of people who don't live in the area, such as myself, really enjoy getting a look at the city.

I think you're doing a great job with the pics. I think most people don't have a camera and could be the reason not many are posting pics.

Well, now I feel stupid. After reading my last post (what was I thinking??), and the responses after that, I realize that I got a bit emotional for no reason. It can't be because I'm pregnant because I'm a guy....lol.

Anyways, thanks for the encouraging words (including the private messages) regarding this thread. I guess you're all going to keep on seeing San Diego "through my eyes" whether you want to or not

Gotcha, now I undertand what what you were trying to say.

I live close to an area that isn't considered desirable (City Heights), so it's not an area most people would suggest to live. In the other direction is Mission Valley, which is a safe and nice, albeit congested, area. I can certainly snap some shots from the canyon rim above to give you an idea of what that area is like. Like every big city, bad areas are located next to nice areas, you just have to know where they are.

another reason no one else is posting pics is maybe they don't live in SD like me.

I just wanted to say that I have been considering a move to SD, and I find this forum very useful. The pictures in this thread are awesome, and have only made me more excited about my decision. Thank you so much for the pictures, and please, keep 'em coming!

I have to ask... do you have any larger pics? Specifically the one with the plane landing over downtown? Would be nice to use it as a screensaver.

I'm sorry, I don't. I reduced the size when I posted it, then deleted the pic. I've always got my camera with me so I'll try to take another one and post it here for you. I love watching the planes land at Lindbergh so it's not difficult for me to do again.
