Thanks, sdurbanite. I'm glad you like them. My wife and I are working on getting back to San Diego fulltime.

Thanks! I'm no professional photographer so the quality may not be as amazing. But I thought I would share anyway.

San Diego County has some beautiful back country in addition to the coastal scenery that it is known for. There are most of Earth's climates represented here.

This is in the mountain area in the North County region, specifically near Palomar Mountain and the valley to the east of it.

This is from Palomar Mountain looking south.

Man, its been about 5-6 years since I've been up there. I think you might have inspired me to go back up to Palomar Mountain!

We actually took a drive this Sunday to Descanso, Pine Valley, Mount Laguna, and Cleveland National Forest which is only about 25-30 minutes from my pad via the 8 to Sunrise Hwy. It was sad to see the area around vista point deck at mile marker 26 on the Sunrise Hwy was burnt and the deck was closed, it appeared t be intact but maybe was not structurally sound as the hillside around it was all chard.

I think we shall have to go back out to Pine Valley in the coming weeks and just take the 79 Highway up thru Julian all the way to Palomar Mountain and see what adventures lie ahead.

Thanks for sharing the pics Futbol, truly inspiring.

Glad you enjoyed the view, Malcorub!

That view over Lake Henshaw is only 20% up the mountain from East Grade Rd. It was taken from a marked scenic point -- a deck to walk out over the edge. Above that point along the road turns to a view of the south.

That road is often used in the Tour de California bike race, as is the South Grade Rd. It is a favorite also of motorcyclists.

We also saw evidence of fire in a few spots on the way over there. About ~2-3 years ago there was a big fire up toward the top of the mountain near where some of those photos were taken. The trees are still burned out, but the area is recovering as usual.
