Well, we bought the lot here in 1986 for $3,500 - and when the market was so good in San Diego in 2004, we sold our house and were able to build this one free and clear. It's nice not to have a house payment, but YES, it does get VERY HOT here in the summer!!!! We don't plan on staying here forever... we also have some property on the other side of Peach Springs with a little rustic cabin on it. Maybe someday we can move up there to the hills! I do miss San Diego, but it just isn't the same anymore!

Default sdurbanite

Do you know why some of my photobucket pics were deleted? Did I do something wrong? This could set me back technologically speaking.

Ever imagine what views you'd get if you lived or worked in one of the highrises in Downtown San Diego? Well wonder no more.

These were snapped from the various webcams around downtown, which explains why they are a bit blurry. All were taken throughout the day today...

Coronado in the background

Horton Plaza zoomed in

Point Loma in the distance

Looking north towards Banker's Hill and Hillcrest

Balboa Park

Bay views

There's the airport and the County Admin building

Another view of Balboa Park

View into the ballpark from the Omni Hotel

Park at the Park

Coronado Bridge and East Village around sunset

Historic El Cortez

New Hilton Hotel with Coronado and bridge behind

Hyatt towers

Cruise ships either coming or going

Hotel Del Coronado in between the twin towers

Cityscape

Now we know why they call it Golden Hill ( I love this neighborhood)

Now go and gather your money now so you can purchase a condo in a highrise and be able to wake up to views like this every morning!

A few more to add that I wasn't able to snap yesterday...

Highrise density

Gaslamp Quarter

GQ street level

Little Italy

Different view of Little Italy

Let's call this one Banker's Hill and South Mission Hills

Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum with North Island in the distance

Where are you from again?

Hey, sdurbanite, I was in SD either late March or early April last year and I remember a historic building in the Gaslamp Quarter caught on fire. Do you remember that? Was the building fixed up? The architecture of the historical buildings is amazing and it would be a shame if they didnt fix it.

^^No, I don't recall the fire you are talking about. If it was within the Gaslamp, I'm sure it's been restored because I don't remember seeing anything boarded up recently and I'm down there all the time.
