I like where I live now, but I miss San Diego/Leucadia so much at times I could just scream. As my newspaper guy on the corner of the coast hwy and Encintas blvd. used to say everyday "another day paradise!"

^^Glad you like them!!

We've all seen SD's beaches, but we also have mountains to conquer as well.

My buddy and I did the 1.5 mile trail up Cowles Mountain at Mission Trails Park http://www.mtrp.org/ yesterday. If you haven't done it before, you are really missing out. Just 9 miles northeast of downtown, it's the highest point within city limits and views from up there are awesome.

Trailhead

Everyone making their way up

Nearing the top with downtown, Coronado and Point Loma in the distance

When you reach to the top, everyone touches this marker as an exclamation that "I made it!"

Ahhhh....the 360 degree views you get from 1,591' above

Highway 52 below

Looking out towards Santee and Gillespie Field

Sitting on the edge over El Cajon

Looking West towards Mission Valley

The descent is just as spectacular

Lake Murray (If it weren't for the glare, you'd be able to see the ocean too)

Just a dusting of snow left on Mt. Laguna

Mt. Helix, front and center in foreground

This hike can be tough during the summer because it gets pretty hot on the trail due to lack of shade and water. People run to the top in less than 25 minutes. Walking briskly, you can make it to the top in about 40 minutes. It's a great workout and the trail can get crowded, as you can see.

Just another perk of living here

Rancho Santa Fe:

Imagine mowing that lawn...

don't like the house, but they do have two range rovers (white and black)

I want this one

The most expensive house in San Diego. $60 mil. The guy spent $15mil on landscaping. The property is like walking through a jungle. It's beyond words.

I also like this one:

This house is next door to the one above. The outside is pretty low key and modest, for RSF that is, but the inside is amazing. I want to get some inside pics for saxyron (sp?)

Those snake warning signs are real, alright. I was hiking off the beaten path of a trail once and a guy coming down the mountain warned me about a rattlesnake coiled up under a rock about 50 yards ahead. Needless to say, I made a U-turn once I heard that.

I remember laughing at people when they brought those long sticks to hike up the mountain. I used to think it was to help them keep their balance, until I realized they were using them as protection from the snakes.

I think if you stay on the popular trails, there's less of a chance you'll run into one.

Great pics, BTW. Sunsets from up there are amazing, aren't they?
