LouisvilleSKI - I posted some pics of OB back on page 15, check them out.
Nice shots, mini_cute! I'm still practicing on my night shots but here some I took in North Park not too long ago -
From the patio at Claire de Lune. My favorite coffeehouse in NP
From the inside mezzanine
Looking across the street at the refurbished North Park Theater, built in 1928.

Great Pictures all.....I currently live in East Chula Vista and LOVE IT. My wife (who is Active Duty Navy) and I got sent here April of last year from Virginia Beach for her to get training at Balboa Naval Hospital. Lets just say we didn't want to come out here, we had never been on the West Coast and all of our Family lives on the East Coast. We were kicking and screaming all the way out here during the 2700 mile drive.
Well her school is over and we have new "orders" to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. Now we DON'T want to leave, we've both lived in Florida and thought that was paradise. But we know now that San Diego is truly "Paradise" for sure.
I grew up in the Wash. DC area and escaped there back in 1997.(moved to Florida)...seems like I'm doomed to be a Marylander!! Well my wifes orders are for 3 years and when that 3 years is up she will be getting out of the Navy. If we plan it right we plan on coming back here to the San Diego area for sure. Probably Chula Vista out towards Eastlake. This whole area just seems like a great place to raise children and our children will be of school age in 3 years.Thank god we don't have to put them in any of the school districts up in the Washington DC Area.
I'm really going to miss taking my daughter to the any of the 60 yes 60 parks that are in Chula Vista alone. Not to mention all the others in the area. Trips to Imperial Beach to play in the sand(no swimming)and the beach front playground. To the Coronado beaches and walking along the beautiful streets there as well.
But the main thing I'm going to miss the most is the people of San Diego, we don't leave till sometime in August but I'm already missing it here.
One last thing, for runners or walkers the Coronado Bridge Run/walk is coming up May 18th and should be fun. I've never done it and I'm just going to be walking, but I'm bringing the camera and snapping some shots for memories on those cold winter days in the DC area. You can google it and get any information you might need on it if you want to join in on the fun.
Again and my wife would agree...we're going to miss the people of San Diego the most !!!

I'm always glad to read good stuff about CV, because it always seems to gets a bad wrap. My camera and I will make it down there soon (as well as National City) to help squash the stereotypes.

Yeah Chula Vista gets a bad rap but some is for good reasons. Of course the part that is West of the 805 is older Chula Vista. Now I do spend alot of time in Eastlake part of Chula Vista, the old downtown area can be nice to visit as well. Like anywhere else there is good and bad. But the older part gets a bad rap. I would got to any part of Chula Vista during the day, now night is another thing. I haven't had any problem personally when out at night though anywhere in the area.
Would I buy a house in the old part?,no probably not. Although I think that in a few years that the West side will be a good investment since the developers are running out of room heading East. Might have to start tearing down some of the older neighborhoods..you never know.
Also down by the Marina area of Chula Vista is very nice and hasa nice park there on the Bay. Great for weekend picnics , boating , fishing and a play ground for the kids.
sdurbanite Got a question for you. I know that good photography is 90% photographer and 10% camera. What make of camera do you use?
Thanks in advance,
bunky

Just wondering, why did you, bunky, say that your kids didn't go in the ocean in Imperial Beach. Is it illegal or just dirty?

Well the Tijuana River( out of Mexico) dumbs in there nearby and yes I understand that its not the cleanest. I've never gotten any studies or anything just kind of took everyone who said don't go swimming there at there word. I do see alot of people swim there however.
With that said , Imperial Beach is a unique real Southern California Beach town in ways and it has a pretty beach with some Islands off shore that are part of Mexico. Theres a nice play park for kids there right at the beach front for kids. Theres a pier for fishing if its your thing. Its a nice place to take a long walk on the beach as well. Just the water quality is suppose to not be so great.
Its worth it to drive another few miles north to Coronada, to actually go in the water. Not to mention that Coronada is just a beautiful , beautiful place. There is also a beach on the Silver Strand (stretch of Hwy 75) on the way to the Coronada beaches.
I hope this answered your question and I really don't want to offend anyone from Imperial Beach. I really liked it there alot as far as taking the kid there for fun. Its just the water quality thing.
