I have a bicycle tour of City Heights, North Park, Hillcrest, Normal Heights and University Heights from when I used to live in the borderline ghetto area in West City Heights. I'll post those soon. Im also moving to Hillcrest from La Playa so more photos might be coming too.

If anyone still wants photos of the "regular, normal" areas of SD, I'll take photos and post those too since my job entails me traveling all over the county almost each day.

It's over near San Diego Country estates.

If you click on this map I marked where it is and you can zoom out to get a sense of where it's located: Web browser and Live Maps are incompatible

The map is in a bird's eye view, if you click "aerial" or "road" you'll be able to zoom out more.

The pictures will not be focusing on architecture as much because these were taken with the cyclist people in mind, and were taken while I was on my bicycle.

They are also quite old, 2+ years ago. I didn't have a very good camera back then and the first half is especially has too much glare. The pictures will also show the not so nice parts of town.

Think of this as the everyman's perspective of the urban part of the city
We turn left at this intersection to University Ave, the main thoroughfare that we are gonna be taking.
My favourite mexican food place to your right. Cheap and open 24 hours.

We are now a tenth of a mile from home. The centre business district(of the neighborhood of North Park) is just up that small hill.

More art deco architecture now. We are now half a mile from home. We are turning left on that intersection because I had to mail something at the post office that day.

Central North Park. You can also see the the newly reopened North Park Theater(pink orange building with those spires, sorta).
New condo development. This has been completed, as far as I know.
A better view of the actual street we're on.
Auntie Helen's Thrift Shop.

We're back on the road. We're turning right on that intersection, back to University. You can also see the new mixed use parking garage behind the bank(right).
A closer look at the sign and theater. More art deco overload. This is about .8 of a mile from home.
We're out of the central business district of the North Park community and we're heading to a different community now, Hillcrest.

Ouch, my eyes.
We made it. We are now entering Hillcrest.

Across another freeway bridge.
We're getting coser to the "heart" of Hillcrest. Thats an SBS antannae thinggie to your left.

More traffic...ahhhh....good thing we're turning left at the next intersection.
Much better angle. You can actually see something now.

Hillcrest sign
Let's wait for this bus.

Time to go home.

Left to Park Boulevard to University Heights!

Not as exciting as University Avenue but quieter and wider.
University Heights.
Right we go towards Adams.
You can see what kind of housing stock there is in the nicer areas of Uptown.
Trolley Barn park to the left.
More housing stock.

Freeway bridge
Overlooking Mission Valley. We are actually at the edge of a mesa right now. Mission valley is suburbanite paradise.

Looking down the bridge. That's Texas street. And yes, that's a man in a black outfit to your right. Walking on a shoulder of a highspeed roadway.

We are now in Normal Heights.

Historic Antique Row.
More traffic.

Normal Heights.
And right we go once we get to 35th. You will see more housing stock of the middle class areas, up to the transition zone to the ghettos.

The End.

^^Great shots from the bike. I'm quite familiar with the route you took. North Park has definitely changed in the two years since those were taken.

You'll probably get a better response if you start a new thread, good luck.

Summertime in San Diego is hard to beat. Random shots of things I've done and places I've been within the last few weeks.

The vibrant Hillcrest Farmers Market is always a good time. Good place to go for a cheap lunch.

Vegan and gluten-free products are easy to find here

Locally grown and farm fresh

Beautiful chili peppers

Live Music

Where else can you get Peruvian chocolates made from the Incas who invented it?

Sunset dinner at Peohe's in Coronado. Don't bother eating there unless you are outside on the patio.

View from our table

Coronado Ferry

It's Summer, how could I not post even more pics of our beaches? Shots from my beach chair at Coronado Beach and north of La Jolla Shores

My feet pointing towards Point Loma

The water is straight in front of me

To my left is the Hotel Del Coronado

Enjoying the wide, sandy beach behind me

...on to La Jolla

From under my umbrella-ella-ella-ella (Singing it like Rhianna )

Straight ahead (Someone give that girl in the front left a sandwich..too, too skinny)

This surf spot must be Diego Bred Posse territory. I guess it's "Locals Only"

Let's go for a little walk

Scripps Pier

North of the pier

Plenty of paragliders above

Reflections

Beachfront homes

Hillside homes

La Jolla sunset

I made to the infamous Del Mar Race Track only once this year. Didn't lose too much, unlike in past years. I went during the Saturday Concert Series and saw Gnarls Barkley perform in the infield for the price of admission or $7!!! Bargain!

And, they're off!!

These hillside homes remind me of Greece

Getting ready for the show

Cee-Lo himself

....and onstage. It was a great show!!

More to come!!!
