sdurbanite - I really need to hang out with you to take some of these pics myself now that I'm here in SD for good. There are a few placces I haven't covered yet that I would need a tour guide for. Direct Message me if you can. Thanks.

Just finished looking through all the very nice pictures of home in the privacy (HA!!) and comfort (NOT!!) of my ship homeported out of Norfolk, VA. Good thing I'll be home for thanksgiving. But I miss living there. And now I am very, very homesick. I think at one point I almost cried. And November seems like such a long ways off. And after November, I don't know the next time I'll get back there. Could be several months, could be over a year. I try not to think of San Diego too often, and I now remember why. Too many good memories. So many happy people living life in paradise. But then, that's why I do what I do. I'll move back there eventually. And who knows, maybe I'll even be stationed there or near there at some point in my career. Until then, enjoy it for me...

NavyChick......hang in there. My wife is active duty and we fell in love with San Diego / Eastlake Chula Vista while she was there for a C school at the Naval Hospital at Balboa Park. We are now at Bethesda Naval Hospital for at least 3 years and can't wait to get back to San Diego as well.
Make the best of your Navy experience while you can, take advantage of all the schooling you can. Make sure you get a job that can translate to the civilian world whether you stay in 4 years or 20 years.
We were stationed in Norfolk as well and "well" Norfolk certainly is no San Diego. We chose to live in Virginia Beach , much nicer and "safer" as well. Of course if your single then , your probably stuck to the ship.
November will come soon and wish you goodluck on your career and hope you get back to you San Diego soon. bunky

Yeah, I'll be home for Thanksgiving, but that seems like a long ways away. And it's so hard to get home. But visiting just isn't the same as living there...
My plan is to go JAG, and try to get stationed in San Diego. If that doesn't work out, well, I guess I'll just have to retire there. It'll work out eventually, but I still miss it.

sdurbanite -- did you ever make it down to CV and take some pictures?
Does anybody else have photos of the area, especially the Eastlake region?

^^I've got a few friends who live in Eastlake, Otay Ranch and Rolling Hills, but I haven't visited them recently. You can count on me to take some pics when I finally make down there.
