Default Carmel Del Mar Elementary ?

We're currently looking at homes in the Carmel Valley area. At least four homes we've been interested in have been in the Carmel Del Mar school boundaries. Most of the comments on greatschools.net were negative. Does anyone have positive information on this specific school? Or can you recommend another great school in the Del Mar school district?

I used to work for the Del Mar School District, and for the most part all the schools are solid. You can't put to much stock on the reviews at greatschools because the internet quickly becomes people's complaint haven, and you will have parents who will complain because something happened with their child, but you don't know the extent of it as your only hearing their side of the story, what might have happened doesn't necessarily suggest the school as a whole is bad, or that the person complaining is even telling the truth.

Anyhow in terms of CDM I was not there long term but did spend a couple of weeks helping out there on the classified side and it seemed like a good school. DMUSD is a smaller district compared to some, but all in all I heard very few complaints when working there. As an employee I felt I was treated good and their pay and benefits are very fair, so they do attract some great teachers.

Carmel Valley schools are terrific! We don't have the money to right now but within the next year we are moving back to that area just because of the schooling. We recently moved back to Hawaii as we missed life here....but really took for granted the schooling and high quality of life that is found in San Diego especially coastal north county.

-Our kids went to Carmel Valley Middle and Ashley Falls. Both just terrific schools with excellent staff and teachers

Thanks for the two replies. I think we settled on Del Mar Hills (?) or Heights. Not sure of the name. We can't do anything until we have finalized the house!!

went to sage canyon elementary, carmel valley middle school, and then TPHS
overall great education and safe place....although I was out on the streets of Del Mar due to my parents divorce, thank god I was cold and hungry in Del Mar then some other area where there are lots of traffickin/drugs.
