Don't know what it stands for. But if you catch some of the punks spray painting up, call the police right away. They will be able to identify them through interrogation !
If these idiots are allowed to spay paint without consequences they will only increase their activity.

Google suggests that TMK is "the mexican klan". Can't find SSO, but there's SSD "south side diablos".
Taggers aren't necessarily gangs, could be just a bunch of bored teenagers and a can of spray paint.

Taggers are bad all over but worse in areas where they have quick get away routes to the freeway.

we live in the area off of Bancroft, and I'm soooo ready to move! Not only is there grafitti everywhere, but i have seen larger groups of young people hanging out on the street corners, and inside ally ways, and hmmm wearing all red and black. They are rude if you try to walk by and block your way. Also, the park on Bancroft is turning into a homeless shelter. I feel sorry for them but a park is supposed to be for children and families, and i do not feel safe taking my child to play there.

Gang or no gang they still vandalize property and cause trouble.
If they cause you apprehension by their presence than they are a problem.
What you need to do is call the police on them whenaver you witness tagging or other illegal activity. Eventually they will move on if they receive enough police attention.
"The Mexican Klan" ......... sounds like a racist latino gang against Whites, Blacks and Asians !

Growing up in the bancroft area neighborhood I can tell you that it's not a safe place to live. TMK was always refered to as "Ten Mexican Kids" back in the late 80's when I first noticed it. It's a tagging crew. Spring Valley, especially La Presa, is riddled with gangs though so unless you know the area I'd not buy a home there (91977 is generally sketchier than 91978). Spring Valley, being the largest unincorporated area in San Diego, does have some nicer areas, some of which have incredible views. You've got to get up in the hills and away from the densley populated neighborhoods to escape the drugs, homeless, and gangs. Be aware though that the tweekers will go up into these nicer areas and burglerize, steel anything metal for recycling, etc. That's the Spring Valley life. Where else can you get a 2000 sq ft home with ocean view on an acre of land for less than $400,000? Only in Spring Valley...and maybe Paradise Hills.

Spring Valley and El Cajon can be taken back by neighbors if they will join forces with their neighborhood watch programs, local law enforcement and county officials. We pay tax payer dollars to help fight crime. The reason gangs infiltrate neighborhoods is because they think they can and until they think they can't they will try and take over. When you see gang graffitti, call your local police because they will send someone out to get rid of it and will do an investigation. Get involved and choose to fight rather than flee your homes.

Graffiti and gangs are the result of police and the courts not enforcing the laws on the books. It will only get worse.
