Default Your City of San Diego Water Bill

How much water do you use per month?

My last water bill was insanely high.

About 90 HCF @ about $385 for 2 months Jun-Jul & Jul-Aug. The grass had to be watered during the hot summer.

In Mar-Apr & Apr-Jun, I used 70 HCF.
In Jan-Feb & Feb Mar, I used 50 HCF.

Any water saving tips in San Diego????

We are seriously considering putting gravel in the front to avoid water useage and as a side bonus the maroon neighbor that let's his dog use it as a toilet will have to find a new spot.

In Seattle, where I am currently, there are a lot of "green" folks, so there are courses at the local garden shops on low-water features for your yard rather than grass - google "water wise gardens" and I'm sure you'll find a bunch pop up!
One thing I tried when I lived in VA was to make a dry-creek bed rock feature. It looked wonderful and was a lot of fun to build. We lived on well water and didn't want to waste it on grass.

Also, there are many shower heads at home goods and hardware stores that control flow to a reasonably small amount without making it seem like bad water pressure - that should save you a bundle!

Water lawn in the early morning before sun comes up.

If you water during the mid-afternoon, the sun burns off the water before it has time to soak into the ground.

You only need to run sprinklers for around 5 - 10 minutes per day.

And like mentioned above, there are plenty of websites with lawn watering advice. Just need to do a google search.
