Default How about checking out Eastlake Chula Vista ????

Just my 2 cents....but having lived in Eastlake area of Chula Vista my wife and I just loved it there and can't wait to get back someday after her military service is over.

Eastlake or any of the eastern areas of Chula Vista ,Otay Ranch ,etc are extremely nice and SAFE and the schools are excellent. It would be an easy commute for you to Otay Mesa and the commute to Coronado wouldn't be to bad as well. My wifes commute to Naval Hospital at Balboa Park was only 15 minutes or so depending on what time of the morning you left for work. Coronado is even shorter depending on bridge traffic going into the Naval Station there.

Just my bias opinion because we really fell in love with East Chula Vista and San Diego as a whole.....

Personally, I think Point Loma and Mission Hills are overpriced, but we're also talking about older, established neighborhoods. Granted, I live in PL and love it, but I do think it's ridiculous that I spent over $600,000 for my 1200 sq ft house (3 bed, 2 bath). If you're looking for more house and still close to Coronado, I'd go slightly south, mabye nice parts of Chula Vista.

My husband works in PL, so we chose to minimize his commute as much as possible (it's about 1 mile). We have a small house for our family, but the trade off is excellent schools for the kids, close to the ocean, and a great community. It's a matter of priorities, I suppose, and we chose location as our highest priority. Yes, MH and PL are fairly close to Coronado, but they are also some of the priciest. HTH.

I am curious how much a house would be there now? We are a family of 4 and my husband is looking at a company in San Diego. I think we'd be in the $750 range. What would that get us there?

Btw, they have two dog parks in the point loma area as opposed to zero in Chula Vista. Just saying

Between Pt loma and mission hills, which is more affordable, and which has better school. I have heard about the High Tech High in Pt loma and the IB, in Mission Hills.

We would be in 850,000 range and have a family of 6.

We did look at east lake before we moved here. good elementary schools, but no specific program for gifted kids, unlike SD public schools, whcih have the seminar program. Also, everything else - downtown, beach, airport seems far away, we did like the bigger houses in eastlake though.
