Chula Vista Schools
My husband may accept a position in Chula Vista, so within the next few months we may relocate. I was searching through real estate, found a nice house, but wondered about the school system. I was hoping to get more personal experiences from those who live nearby. Of course, opinions on the neighborhood are welcomed as well. The zip code is 91910.
Here are a few of the schools within 3 miles of the house. My daughter is in elementary school. I have a two year old that will need a good daycare/preschool as well.
Greg Rogers West Elementary School
Chula Vista Hills Elementary School
Discovery Charter School
Cook Child Care
Thank you for any information that you can give me.

Chula Vista Hills is the best, Discovery Charter is good too, Greg Rogers is so-so. There's also Joseph Casillas Elementary in the same area, it's on par with Chula Vista Hills.
All areas east of 805 are okay. You should be aware that it's a "multiethnic" area and you'll probably be a minority. (Typical school demographic: 50% Hispanic, 20% Asian, 20% white) You might want to start learning Spanish

I think you're confusing Rogers with something else. Rogers and Hills aren't in the same league. Chula Vista Hills is one of the top schools in the district, Rogers is below median.

I wouldn't send my kids to Greg Rogers. You can go to www.cvesd.org and on the left hand side hilighted in blue go to SARC's/Public Documents and then click on the school (there are 43 elementary schools in Chula Vista) you can look up API, test scores, teachers credentials, etc...
You can also request a "zone transfer" to a different school than the one you live near but there is no guarantee.

Further East you go the better.......
Hi...the further East you go into Chula Vista ,East of the 805 that is the better for housing and schools.
Eastlake is a great community but is further East of the Zip Code your mentioned .With the exception of Rodgers I think most are good schools. Rodgers might be ok , but its surrounded by a slightly run down neighborhood. Might be nice people around there , I just remember taking my daughter to the park next to the school and remembering the house's were alittle run down around there.

I wouldn't take this comment to seriously , my wife and I lived in Chula Vista for 2 almost 3 years and never felt like a minority or did we ONCE ever have a language barrier . True its a multiethnic area that has a great sense of community in my opinion. We have lived all over being military and found there to be nearly NO racial tensions whatsoever.
Whenever we would take our kids to a park anywhere , not just Chula Vista but anywhere in San Diego all the kids would play together and the parents were equally nice made conversations with us....it was great.
Oh and again...most of the people in Chula Vista have been here for generations and can speak perfect English. We can't wait to get back to Eastlake ourselves. Goodluck in your search and I think you'll just love the area....bunky

KCDA-THANK YOU for the website link. That is a great resource.
Bunky-Thanks for sharing your personal experience. Moving can be intimidating, especially when you have small children. I will check into Eastlake as well. I'm not set on that particular zip code, I just liked the house.

I was referring to Greg Rogers West Elementary at 510 East Naples Street.
