I have moved to PQ for 6 months. I thought it is a nice area because of the school district but I have been vandalized for 4 times already. Mostly minor but still vandalism. Is this a safe area? How bad is vandalism here?

Hi Donald,

I am very sorry to hear about the vandalism you have experienced in PQ. I cannot remember if you are in Council District 1 (Scott Peters) or 5 (Mainschein) - I would give them a call - (619) 236-6611 or (619) 236-6655 resepectively and ask to speak to an aide in charge of PQ or public safety. Perhaps they could put you in touch the PD for the area and get some ideas or action such as Neighborhood Watch.

Alex

There been frequent and repeated cases of racist / anti-semetic / anti-minority (swastikas, smearing of feces), as well as spray painting and grafitti at several RB and Poway high schools and synagogues. The area is completly safe in terms of violent crime but is well-known as being somewhat conservative and unfriendly towards minorities. My guess is a small group of extremely bored teenagers are the ones behind the trouble.

Thanks Alex, I will make a contact to them.

Sassberto, on one occasion in the past, I overheard a group of young men and women yelling on the street and they stayed outside of my house for a while. I did not go out to look becuase I thought they were just hanging out. The other day morning, I found that some of the plants were destroyed apparently by them. Other occasion when I just moved in, someone threw an egg to my driveway. I do not know this area well so that I should not have made enemies with others. I do not understand why people doing stupid things like that. PQ has a lot of asian people living in there. They must have done this to them on a daily basis if they are so bored. I just hope that the police can patrol that area more often. I have not seen a police car driven in my area since I moved in. Hope they can do more. Thank you so much guys.

If you hear people out in the streets at night you should be lighting them up with a maglite and calling the cops.

Seeing a cop in a residential San Diego neighborhood is almost as uncommon as seeing the loch ness monster.
