I was wondering if anyone already living in San Marcos/Escondido area could possibly help me. I grew up out there but moved away for 7 years because of husbands job (army) since his third tour to Iraq he has become more hostile and violent and I need to get myself and 3 teenage daughters away. I would really like to move back there as I hate where I am at now (Washington, rainy, cold, no sun) but was curious as to what apartments are renting for out there right now. I know that when I left they were building alot of income subsidized apartments and that would be great for us since I would most likely be moving without a job. I have to get away from this man would appreciate any help as to services or programs that might help, just until I could find a job and finish my nursing degree. I am an emotional reck from this man and do not know how much longer I can take this.

Hi Miir1,
I don't know about social services per se, but I can easily recommend San Marcos over Escondido.

Here's a link to San Marcos. Look under "Housing Assistance Program". http://www.ci.san-marcos.ca.us/

San Marcos has at least 3 or more new or newer subsidized places that are nice. Just steer clear of the apartments on San Marcos Blvd or Mission Road and you should be fine.

I think Palomar community college and CSUSM both have some sort of nursing programs, so you might be in luck there, as well.

Best of luck to you.

Default Thanks for the help

Thank you for the information. I now just have to figure out a way to get out of here as soon as my daughter graduates from High School.
