Default Time Warner Cable Internet - Mira Mesa

I have AT&T DSL (1.5Mbps). My father likes watching online TV from Vietnam and the DSL is not fast enough. I am thinking about getting TWC internet (10Mbps). Does anyone have any experience with TWC in Mira Mesa? Is it really faster and worth $45/mo?

Thanks for your help.

I think it is and I'm happy with it. I'm in Bay Park but visit a relatives house in MM with the high speed cable all the time.

I have Time Warner - RoadRunner at home for $45/month and sbcglobal.net at my office for $30/month (office is in the Mira Mesa/Miramar area).

The connection always drops at home about 5-7 times a day.
At work, the connection drops about 3-5 times per week.

The speed is noticeably faster at work (sbcglobal.net).

I tried to switch to sbcglobal.net at home but I ran into a problem with technical problems at onset at their end and it became a 6-month ordeal to fix the problem that I cancelled the switch altogether.

I've had roadrunner since TWC came out with it. TWC said the reason the connection drops is because of the old cables. Our area was one of the first ones to be dug up for Internet cables. I thought it was fiber optic but from what I was hearing they were not fiber optic.

Thank you for your replies. I guess reliability and speed will depend on the wiring and cable in my house. I think I will stick with DSL until I move.

TW will fix the rewire to the house for free. If it's the wiring in the house then you are on the hook for it but that makes sense since it is your dwelling.

I live in Tierra Santa and have TWC internet. It is by far the worst service I have had. It just drops offline at times, slows down then speeds up, and does not have the best customer service. I have called so many times in the last few months to them to get my connection reset, fixed, or whatever just so I can use my connection. I will say that when it is working correctly, it is real good. Probably the best I have had. But when it drops and can not find the connection it gets seriously irritating. It may just be my neighborhood but i am close to Mira Mesa. Sorry for the rant but figured I would add my .02.

I've had RR in 2 areas in MM. Maybe 1 or 2 drops per years. Very fast speed.

Roadrunner is down right now in Mira Mesa. I am using my backup slow phone line connection through Juno.

Roadrunner has been acting up since Monday. TW said more than 100 people from Mira Mesa have called them since Tuesday night around 10:30 pm.

I might consider switching if rr keeps going down. I have had Roadrunner since the beginning when they first installed the cables around the neigborhood.

North of MM Blvd. Near Camino Ruiz and to the west of Camino Ruiz. I had RR in the LA area and that was good too, so I guess I am lucky.
