Wonder why he didn't head out over the ocean, let it drop and THEN bail out? Just kind of ironic with nothing but water just a few miles away. Don't suppose he had a whole lot of time to think about it, but now this will haunt him the rest of his life. Sad indeed.

That right there leads me to think that it really must have been the awful luck that it all hit the fan right at the last second, once it became too late to do anything at all, or else I'm sure that's what would have happened. Had the emergency occurred thirty seconds earlier, I'm sure he would have ditched into the ocean, and thirty seconds later he would have been within gliding distance to the runway. What a shame....

When you're on final and the engines quit, there are not a lot of options.

I really think he did what he could--the spouse/father of the victims acknowledges that too. He has an amazing attitude. What an example he is setting.

I think the pilot did all he could do in this situation , and those type of planes have a glide point of a ROCK for the most part. I feel for the families on the ground and I'm also glad that the survivors are handling it well and with class.
