Best place to live in Carmel Valley
Does anyone know a researchable resource for school coverage of Carmel Valley?
What is the best subdivision in Carmel Valley, based on school rating?
One resident of Antares says it is the best location there. Do you agree?
Also, where can one find a map or at least a list of subdivision names in Carmel Valley.
Thanks

The entire Carmel Valley is assigned to the same middle school and to the same high school.
All elementary schools are very highly rated. The differences are minor. Generally speaking, schools south of 56 are better than schools north of 56.
You can refer to this map
California School Performance Maps
and to this list of scores
County List of Schools

Is whole 92130 considered Carmel Valley and assigned to same schools?
If not what neighborhoods around Carmel Valley go to same schools?

92130 includes Carmel Valley and parts of Fairbanks Ranch. The two are separated by an east-west canyon north of Torrey Highlands Park. Generally speaking, if you get there off Del Mar Heights Rd, it's Carmel Valley. If you get there off San Dieguito Road, it's Fairbanks Ranch. FBR is very expensive and I don't think there are any condos there.
There are many elementary schools in the area. CV is assigned to Carmel Valley Middle, FBR is assigned to Earl Warren Middle. Both CV and FBR are assigned to the same high school.
In addition, there is a small community near the eastern edge of CV called Torrey Del Mar, it has a 92130 zip code but it is assigned to a completely different school district. Corresponding schools are just as good, so it does not matter much.

Cathedral Catholic is a private school. Tuition, I was told, is $16,000 per year, per kid.

There are actually four high schools in Carmel Valley;
- Canyon Crest Academy - San Dieguito Union High School District
- Torrey Pines High - San Dieguito Union High School District
- Cathedral Catholic - (private)
- San Diego Jewish Academy - (private)
All are excellent choices.

One thing not mentioned is school crowding. We had a tough time over the summer with school placement related to where we were going to live. An example was that we were zoned for Ocean Air school but it was full so we were told to just call around to the other schools in the vicinity and see which ones had openings. Personally, I found it stressful and didn't like this and opted out of Carmel Valley. Something that was a true help to us was a map of Carmel Valley color coded by school. It wasn't necessarily specific on subdivision names, etc., but it did let us know based on the street we were looking at what school we were slated for. We received it from a realtor. When you are relocating, most realtors will send you out a packet. The map I was talking about is on the DMUSD web site: http://www.dmusd.org/district/files/...categoryID=175. If you want specific information about the middle/high schools..you can look on SDUHSD's website: www.sduhsd.k12.ca.us/about/boundaries-map.htm. I'm not familiar with anyone who attends Canyon Crest but my husband has a few colleagues with kids at Torrey Hills and they're pretty happy with the HS. A few of my daughter's friends siblings are in their first year at Earl Warren and it appears the parents are having a harder time adjusting to middle school life than their kids! I haven't heard any complaints. Good luck. Moving is stressful, especially with kids!

I went to Earl Warren and Torrey Pines. Honestly i would rather shoot myself in the head than send my child to Torrey Pines. ......
This was5-6 years back though so maybe it changed but i doubt it.
