Anybody else like Oceanside?
I find the city kinda refreshing from other parts of O.C. and San Diego, yeah its a little gritty but its nice that it isn't all polished like other socal cities.
I also like it still has a surf town/sleepy kinda feel to it...

IMHO, there are nicer "sleepy surf towns" nearby, namely Encinitas/Cardiff/Leucadia. You have the same non-cookie-cutter development but without the "gritty," as you put it.

I've only been in O'side for about 4 months. And I am not finding it nearly as bad as what I heard! Sure, Encinitas and Carlsbad are more "charming", but Oceanside is not the pit that others have claimed.

I don't live in Oceanside anymore, but I was born and raised there until about 7 years old, then lived there again from my early teens to early twenties. I love Oceanside, yeah there are parts I don't care for, but it will always be home to me. And there's no question that there are nicer cities in San Diego County especially Coastal cities, but when it comes to Oceanside itself I'm proud to be from there.

And even though I am not, nor plan on becoming a surfer, I love the Real Surfer feel here.

I like Oceanside... it has a working class character that I appreciate... because I came from a working-class background. I like that it has not been Condo-ized and mansion-ized... yet.

Is OC more affordable than other beach cities?

Oceanside is definitely the most affordable of the coastal towns/cities.

Yes. Generally speaking, houses cost less in Oceanside than other SD coastal cities. But, I don't think that ocean-view property in O'side is that much cheaper than ocean-view property elsewhere. That's pretty much the same everywhere, I think.

Yeah, pretty much what I was trying to get at.
Someday I will have to find a small little house thats a 5 min walk to the beach.
