Default Any Ice Rinks?

We're considering moving down to Carlsbad, Encinitas area and I'm curious about ice rinks. Are there any withing reasonable driving distance (i.e. 30-45 minutes)? And if there are, are there hockey leagues/programs for adults and kids? Any info is appreciated.

Both Poway and Oceanside have them, should be within the distance you specified.

There's a rink in Escondido. I'm not sure about leagues and stuff, but a friend said they have to separate rinks so that people can do recreational skating separate from people practicing on a more serious level.

I was gonna say but forgot to, I know they have adult leagues that play at UTC, which is just about 15-20 minutes (depends on traffic) south of Carlsbad/Encinitas. Straight down the 5.

There is one in Mira Mesa, another in UTC, and still another in Horton Plaza. I'm sure there are more but the last time I went Ice Skatting was like 10 years ago.

There's at least 4 indoor ice rinks: in UTC shopping mall, in Mira Mesa, in the Kroc Center Ice in Rolando, and one in Escondido.

During the winter break (late December into very early January), there are 3 outdoor ice skating rinks: one at Coronado island (which technically isn't really an island), one near Horton Plaza, and one in Balboa Park during the "December Nights" festival. Here's some photos and more info:
San Diego Attractions (http://www.san-diego-travels.com/attractions.html - broken link)

I believe all 4 indoor rinks have hockey leagues. I like the one on Mira Mesa best. The outdoor rinks are of questionable quality: on cold days it's fine, but on warm days, the ice isn't so good. Outdoor rinks are temporary and are gone as soon as we are into the new year.

I don't think Poway or Oceanside has an ice rink, just Escondido and Mira Mesa.
