San Diego better get a grip on housing cost and rentals otherwise it's just spoiled college kids who ruin your day at the beach. SORRY LOCALS NO MORE BEER .

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK .
I say let all the "Zoners" go to Arizona, sometimes you have to grow up. Besides if you want to surf , just drive to the beach and surf. Not everyone that surfs lives at the beach. Another thing is maybe you need to adjust your life and make more money, couldn't that be the problem??? Instead of blaming rich college kids. Times change and usually for the better....IMO

Besides the alcohol ban on all beaches was pushed for, funded, and passed by Evangelical Christians & right wing conservatives. Just another example of religious extremists trying to force their religious views on everyone else. I mean, come one, there are 80 miles of beaches around here so I have to believe there is enough room for everyone. Just designate a few beaches as adult friendly beaches and others as family friendly beaches then the problem is solved. But no... Evangelicals want to tell everyone how to live their lives.

I voted for the beach ban and I am a liberal half-jewish agnostic.

Thats a blanket statement....where's your proof that Churches funded the alcohol ban? Everything is such a conspiracy with you leftist. Just concerned citizens that didn't want to put up with a bunch of drunken "buffoon's" at the beach while trying to enjoy there own day off. Now I'm going to go home and drink a beer...

Nothing in California or San Diego Has changed for the better WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE . I've been in California since 1977 and all I see is :

1. More Smog
2. More people
3. Crazy housing cost (Most overpriced according to forbes)
4. Thousands of native Californian's leaving the state
5. More idiot's at the BEACH (who park in my spot)
6. No more older crowd on Garnet (no more Stinger's Bar)
7. Tons more College kids then ever in the the last 20yrs.
8.GREEDY LANDLORDS WHO BOUGHT the HOME in the 70's and Still Jack the RENTS yearly because dummies keep giving in.

I made $70,000 last year in this economy this year is less
no more middle class for San Diego just Retired farts and poor people
this place will be like Florida very soon . If you did not buy a house before 1998 then you got ripped off and are still living in a bubble in S.D.

P.S. Dont park in my spot I will have you towed

I don't know if complaining will solve anything. I live in Oxnard and beach front homes sell in the seven figures. A cheap home would be in the $2,000,000 mark. The problem is that Malibu has the same size homes selling for $9,000,000 to $15,000,000 and many people there sell and buy in Oxnard. If you want to live the lifestyle, you need to find something that will help you pay the entrance fee.

Just buy a place in west of the 5 in Encinitas and ride your bike or drive 2 mins. to the beach. What a bunch of whiners - my heart just bleeds for those that can't afford to live on the beach.

Apparently people want to live near the beach and are willing to pay for it. Shocking, I know.

The Beach was the best place to live in the 90's . Maybe not anymore.....
In 1992 I paid $500.00 mo. for a oceanfront studio in South Mission Beach that same unit is $2200.00 mo. today . I also rented a 2BD/1BA house in Crown Point from 1995 thru 1999 only $1000.00 per month that same house today $2500 today. MIN WAGE : 1997 $5.00 and today MIN WAGE is $8.00 so three dollars more wage but 2x maybe 3x more for rents . I was making $40,000 per year in late 90's and today about $50,000 per yr. But still not enough to rent a house in Crown Point or P.B. What do they want us to do live in a house with 5 roomates just to split the rent. People in San Diego always complain about the mexican people living in 1 house with like 8 people , well just go to P.B. same thing just college kids.

PB sucks today it's for students with rich parents to pay for them to go to school at the bars on Garnet Ave. No local surfer's can afford to live at the beach anymore they all moved to Hillcrest where they still pay $1000 per month for 1BD/1BA. And they are not alone in fact people are leaving San Diego and heading for Arizona , did'nt use to be the other way around when Zoners would come to S.D. to live ? Now everyone in California is leaving and seeking cheaper rents in other states . I met people from P.B. in Tempe AZ.

In 1992, the cold war was ending and there were massive layoffs in the defense business.

When the local economy is weak, its much cheaper to live by the beach.

If most people lose there jobs here again, it would be much cheaper for you to live near the beach.
