Hi, I'm looking seriously at two job offers, one in San Jose and the other in La Jolla. Prices are downright stupid in the bay area (can't get a 1500 sqft 3/2 house less than an hour away from work under $850K), but it's a good job. The La Jolla job is almost as good but I don't know how much more affordable the area is or how far away I can live. I could really use some advice on what options I would have for the La Jolla job given the following criteria:

1) commute time ~30 minutes, working 7:30AM to 6PM
1) safe area
2) 3 bed/2bath home price up to $800K, I'd sleep better at $650K though
3) We are mid to late 30's DINKs, and would like some nightlife close by, but it's not a requirement.

I greatly appreciate any advice, thanks!

If I were you, definitely I choose La Jolla's job. Compared to San Jose,
SD's housing is affordable.

You don't have to live in La Jolla, $650 ~ $800 K can let you find nice
home in Carmel Valley or Del Sur or Ranch PQ
