It was voted best burger in San Diego for both 2006 & 2007 as well as "best resturant" in 2007. New Zealand burgers, 100% organic beef ground daily, and organic locally farmed veggies. If you do not live around the P.B area you probably have never heard about it. It has become so popular that they just opened a new location in Downtown as well. I have had coworkers praise me for introducing them to this place. You will never go back to In N' Out and those other big chain burger places again. Along with the burgers, they also have the best fries I have ever tasted in my life. They use some sort of secret seasoning that is addicting and they wont leave your hands greasy. I recommend all to go try this place.
Since you went through such great lengths to bring this to our attention, I decided to visit the downtown BB grill this evening....it was absolutely delicious! At this point, I can't compare to Tioli's or Hodad's, but they sure do have their work cut out for them! The fries are great and I love their sauces! Best burger I've had in years...cheers!

I love the Don't Mess With Texas Burger at the East Village Tavern and Bowl! Get it with rings and a side of ranch and you'll never go with anything else.

Sorry if this turns out to be a duplicate posting ...

My current favorite is a bit out of the way. It's Nessie Burgers. It's a little shack in the park 'n ride lot on the NW corner of I-76 and I-15.

Place isn't much to look at. No indoor seating, but they have a few picnic tables out in front.

The food is wonderful! One burger and one order of fries costs $9 and is easily enough for both my husband and me.

Hodad's wins by a landslide! In addition to the great food, the look of the place is a surfer/hippie nirvana, as some booths are the insides of volkswagen buses, etc.
After you've had a burger, check out the Big Kitchen in Golden Hill. It's also a throwback to the 60s, with the owner still wearing tye dye dresses and hugging everyone. Whoopie worked there before she was "Whoopie," but the reason to go is the great breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday.

I've had a nessie burger before and while they are huge they definitely use previously frozen meat. I know that fresh over frozen is a personal choice and different people have different views when it comes to food but frozen meat reheated doesn't qualify as the best in my book. You mileage may vary though.

Everytime I have driven by that place it's always busy, which can be a good sign of course. I've never tried it though, but you've reminded me about it and I just might have to check it out sometime. It sounds good from what you describe.

There are some really good farmer's fruit stands in that area too. It's wonderful if you are interested in fresh locally grown produce.

I've heard Crazy Burger on 30th in North Park is very good. Does anyone agree?

It's pretty good, but what's more interesting are the choices on the menu. I'm not very daring and prefer only angus beef, but Crazee Burger offers gator, antelope, ostrich, vennison and kangaroo burgers to choose from. Below is a link to their menu:
