I'm a parishioner at St. John's in Encinitas and the school we have here is outstanding (in my humble opinion). I know you would be happy having your kids attend there. A friend of mind attends St. Pat's but I don't know anything about the school.

You might want to check out Village Park in Encinitas...it is a good location and I think somewhat less pricey. It is just down the road from TJ's on Encinitas Blvd. I've live in Enc for over 20 years (seen lots of changes) but it's a great place, personally I would choose it over Carlsbad.

One thing...you'll really need to work on your fear of I-5, since in California, everybody travels by freeway. It's not that bad once you get your bearings around here

I too can vouche for St. John's in Encinitas. We attend mass there and our oldest is in the preschool. We are pleased with all phases of the parish. And we also live in Village Park and enjoy the relative quiet and neighborhood feel here.

Since Donna7 and I are both looking at family-style relocation guidance, I appreciate Encinitan and loveautumn's recommendation of St. John's. I was in touch with their friendly and very helpful admissions person today. I hope to attend a Mass next time we come in town for a visit. Keep the tips coming!

Village Park is the area east of El Camino Real, North of Encinitas Boulevard, West of Rancho Santa Fe Road, and South of Leucadia Boulevard (or maybe even Garden View Road). It doesn't have its on zip code, but those streets may help you frame it in on a map.
It's tract area, no doubt, and doesn't appeal to everyone (can you say cookie-cutter?) But ... we really like the neighborhood feel, the community swimming pools, tennis courts, green belt parks, and the location close to shopping and all.

Thank you. I was driving around on all of the streets you mentioned; I will have to go on a map and try to figure it out in my mind. When we get to SD again (all of us) - we'll have to rent a van and have you give us a tour of the area! Not kidding. We'll pay for the van, gas, and meals.

Schedule permitting, I'd be glad to.

This is actually my neck of the woods. I have a home in La Costa. I wil be moving back to Cleveland this summer.
I can honestly say that this area is very beautiful. I sure hope you find what you are looking for out here!
