Default living downtown commuting north

Hi,
I am going to be relocating from NYC in July and was wondering how is the commute from lets say Hillcrest or Bankers hill up north or east.
Is it a reverse commute? My job will require me to drive around daily and want to live at a location where it is easy to get to and from.
I am interested in staying as close to a city enviroment since I am used to the urban lifestyle. I see many apartments come with parking spaces and wondered if this would be realistic to live in theese neighborhoods and work up north or even east.
Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Hey... I'm Mr. Sassy!

Yes it's a reverse commute of sorts but it can be heavy. Heaviest traffic is southbound in the afternoons.
