Great Thanks!! I didn't reserve a room though. I realized what you said and even though we'll have a car, I read that parking at the Convention Center is a nightmare!! Now I'm trying to find hotels near a trolley line. This is hard!!

I did find this place:

Homewood Suites by Hilton® San Diego Airport-Liberty Station
2576 Laning Road 92106

I didn't check to see if it's near a station but it was closer to the Convention Center. Is that area any good?

The Liberty Station area is fine as well. It too is auto-centric, but if you were prepared for a long trek you could actually walk to the Convention Center from Liberty station. It would be a long walk, but you would have a walking path through a park all along the bay which could be very pleasant during the day; brisk at night, however. Remember though, I'm warning you, it definitely would be a LONG walk, 1-2 miles at least, but scenic. Ask the hotel about a bus route to downtown. That's what the staff is there for.

Regarding the Handlery, I would like to add that the Trolley station that is closest to the hotel has lots of parking. You could make the short drive to the station, park in the lot, and take the trolley to the Convention Center. I think the parking may even be free.

Thank you so much kettlepot for the info!!!

There is definitely a bus station @ Liberty Station. The hotel just seemed nicer than the Handlery one but I still haven't made a decision yet. I appreciate your input!
