Default How to find a home when relocating

I am curious how most Californians find a home when they are relocating to another state. I wonder what the resources are that are used most often. I would like to advertise my Real Estate listings with those resources.

Any suggestions?

The make contact with a real estate agent in the area they are interested in. They tell the real estate agent what they are looking to spend, what there demands are, bigger home in the suburbs vs some place closer to work etc.

Then they may fly back a few times to visit the area and look at the homes the real estate agent has recommended. Alternatively, they may just rent a place quickly on a short lease and put most of their stuff in storage. Then they can take more time looking at homes and figuring where they might want to move.

I moved to NC 2 years ago from Sacramento. We found a place we liked by researching schools, cost of living, crime index etc.. When we found a place we were interested in we ordered a relocation packet from that local chamber of commerce. It was huge with all of the info you could ever imagine. The chamber of commerce and relocation magazines are also helpful.
It also depends on what type of business you are in as to where you should advertise your services.
