I live in Bonita and I love it. I have lived here for 11 years. 59 years old and white female.
Feel very safe here, moved from Washington State to here in 1999. Neighbors are great, live in the old part of Bonita, definitely a lot of walkers in my area. Good schools and great community spirit.
Close to everything we need for daily living Shop Costco, Henry's Market, Wal-mart, Home Depot, Lowe's, Ross, T. J. Max, Catherine's mostly. Plaza Bonita Mall is great for selection of places shop and eat, has a wonderful AMC movie theater even has IMAX. Average incomes per family in Bonita is over 40% higher than the average for California families. LOL I shop Plaza Bonita and a couple of times a year drive the 20 minutes to either Horton Plaza or Fashion Valley to shop. Just laughing because I read a post that the upper income people do not shop Plaza Bonita, well we do. Although I have found that over the last couple years I do a lot of online/internet shopping and comparison shopping.
I like the friendliness of the older neighborhoods in Bonita the best. One reason is most families are owners and not renters (owners spend more years living in their homes).
Bonita is a nice location for going to Mexico, San Diego downtown, Mission Valley area, San Diego Airport and the port terminal for cruises are all 20 minutes or less from here.

Chula Vista and its surrounding towns are gang ridden and full of low class immigrants
Horrible filthy motels, lousy restaurants , and the chula vista mall is going down hill quickly.
You don't want to raise a family here. I lived here for over thirty years and saw it go to hell.
