Living by mission Trails/mission gorge area?
I have seen a couple places for rent here.....how is that area. I drove around it today and thought it would be nice to possibly live by mission trails for biking and hiking. But don't know much about the area, any input would be great!

It is an older part of town and I think it is a great area if you like hiking and that sort of thing. Mission Trails Golf course is nearby and has been greatly improved.
You also are not too far from SDSU and the 8 Hwy.
I haven't heard too much about the area and maybe that is a good thing.

The west bound 52 is a nightmare in the morning just as the east bound is in the evening. That freeway only has two lanes and there has been a fair amount of urban sprawl in that section of east county.

It's also a bit to far east for my taste and it can get a little warm in summer.

If you look around the area of Golfcrest Dr. and Mission Gorge, there are some decent apartments over there. As you go south they get shabby though. It's an OK area but a little removed from everything. If you really will take advantage of proximity to Mission Trails, it's a great spot to be.

I think it is a good area in terms of decent people, low crime rate etc. But it gets hot there in the summer. It's somewhat isolated, but that may not be a problem depending on your particular situation / needs.

Personally I think East Chula Vista is really out there compared to San Carlos area. At least San Carlos is reasonably close to Downtown SD, the city, Mission Valley. East Chula Vista is really isolated and if you want to do anything that isn't in a stripmall you have to leave the area. But you will get a bigger, newer apartment in CV than you would in San Diego.
