Someone suggested Or or Washington, even there you will not get a 3 bedroom in a safe neighborhood for $1000.00 a month.

Northwest has 'issues' as well...
Oregon/Washington incredibly beautiful -- however, education system extremely underfunded (in Portland area anyway) -- something to consider as a parent. My sister left the NW for eastern Texas & is quite happy (she is retired); she & her husband live very comfortably on small fixed-income. Keep researching & best of luck to you !

All I am saying is that I personally live in the Seattle area in Edmonds & there is (especially now) nice 3 bdrm rentals homes in Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mtlk Terrace, Marysville etc etc . We are renting a 3 bdrm a bathroom in each bedroom granite countertops in our large kitchen 1800.00 sq ft for $1200.00/mo

Man if you're going to live in Victorville and think you're living in California, you might as well just move to Mars. Victorville is not "California"; it's waaaaaaay inland, and remote. Not near the coast at all. It is not the same Vibe as "California" (along the coast).
3BR for $1000? How about Idaho?

"Your attitude sounds like a holdover from the people who hung out at the state line in the 30s, using guns to turn away newcomers."
We still have 'em, but now they're called Minutemen.

You just have to search and be wise. Research crime rates, etc. I lived in San Diego for 5 years and moved to Dallas, TX. I plan to move back in between San Diego and LA after I graduate college. You can find a great deal anywhere! From my experience ... it all evened out. Rent may be a tad cheaper but the electric bills are MUCH lower in Southern California with the mild weather. It will be all worth moving back. If you and your husband want to move to southern California ... DO IT! Just research and be wise .. that's all! Don't let anyone discourage you!
