Default Dogs on the Beach... CONFUSED!!!

Hi Guys,

I just moved to San Diego, and I know that the Dog Beach in Ocean Beach you can let your dog run off leash.... but are there any other beachs I can take my dog if I keep him LEASHED??? I like OB alot, but we are planning a little picnic and I don't really want to be around unleashed pets or eat near doggie doo.. I have also seen dogs on other beaches....

Can you list the beachs that I can bring my small dog on a leash that are nice??? I like the sandy Mission Beach, I like La Jolla, and I dont mind OB ((Can I bring him leashed on the other end of Ocean Beach or only to the dog beach?))

Generally on almost every beach not designated as a dog beach, leashed dogs are only allowed on certain times based on the season. Fall/Winter, dogs are allowed from 4pm til morning. Spring/Summer, dogs are allowed from 6pm until morning.

I have no idea if they really enforce this though. I suppose they do if they get complaints, etc, but most people are pretty chill. There are certain unofficial beaches where dogs are seen offleash, like those ones in Sunset Cliffs.

I imagine it will be easier with your small dog because you can practically take him anywhere(in most malls here, even), especially if he's in a carrying bag.
