Default HOA fee at Cardiff by the Sea (92007)

Hi,

I am interested in purchasing a house in Cardiff by the Sea (92007), on Evergreen Dr. to be more specific. I heard that the HOA fee in some nice neighborhood can be quite hefty (hundreds of $$/mo.), and sometimes the HOA can be quite annoying. Does anyone have an idea what it is like in this area?

Other random advices are welcome too, ex. is it too hot in the summer, what are the good/bad areas in the city, etc.

Thanks in advance - ahemolysin

Older houses rarely have HOAs. Good websites with RE listings usually list HOA fees if they exist.

The only thing currently for sale on Evergreen is a condo. Condos almost always have HOAs (they are spent on common area maintenance). In this case HOA is $240/month.

There no "bad" parts of Cardiff in terms of crime. Some of the streets can get kind of rowdy with beach party houses, surfer flop pads, and the like in summer, but by and large, it's a very quiet community. As far as too hot in the summer, it's by the beach, so I'm not sure where you're coming from there. Throughout May and June, it'll be cloudy most of the time with May Gray and June Gloom. Then in August -- October, it can be warm, but still not hot.
