Default Surf shops

I need a wetsuit but don't really know any of the surf stores around SD. Any recs for where I can get one? We're in the La Jolla aream, but I'll drive anywhere for a good surf shop. Thanks!

Ripcurl Outlet up near Trestles. It's like a forty minute drive. Tons of suits, knowledgable staff, cheap prices.

I'll make it easy for ya: 3011 S el Camino Real San Clemente, CA 92672 - Google Maps

Thanks! I'll definitely be making the trip. Do you happen to know what kind of wetsuit I need for SD? I'm from the East Coast and never had to use one since our water temps were not as cold as this.

No need to travel all the way up to San Clemente. There are plenty of local surfshops to choose from.

San Diego Surf Shops - Surfing San Diego

Hansen's in Encinitas and South Coast in OB have a good rep

Mitch's in Solana Beach is awesome. Good selection, and they carry Xcel suits, which I really like. I got a spring suit from there last spring and love it. As far as what you need, I guess I'd say if you plan on surfing year-round, get a 3-4mm full suit. If you only surf in spring-fall like me, you can get by with a 2mm spring suit. Half the summer, you can trunk it with a rash guard. But it depends on your tolerance for colder water. Some people can handle cold, some can't.
The Rip Curl outlet is great, too. But it's a short haul up there.

I would call Harry at Boz Wetsuits - he's local in San Diego and the wetsuits are very good quality at a great price. checkout bozwetsuits.com
