Have Baja Fresh burritos gotten smaller?
I just came back to San Diego today and had a baja burrito. Not only was it $1.25 more than before, but I honestly thought that it was smaller. Does anybody else think that they have gotten smaller?

I honestly don't know since I never go there. I find the food to be mediocre and their prices high especially since there are so many places where you can get much better burritos and tacos (which aren't 90% junk filler) for 1/3 the price. I honestly never understood why people would pay $9-$10 for a burrito which was 90% rice and beans (cheap junk filler).

i agree with you. the reason that i liked baja fresh is that it billed itself as "healthy"- no msg, no lard. I always felt full after I ate there too. the stores were also very clean and a good atmosphere. i'm re-thinking baja fresh now b/c the burrito was small even though the store manager denied it

That place is crap, never go to any big chain wannabe Mexican food place. I think everything today has gotten a little smaller, but yet we pay more for less.

crappy, crappy food. It's like when people in NY eat pizza at Dominos (and surprisingly many do)

I've never had a burrito at Baja Fresh before, that's what the independent shops are for! Their fish tacos are ok, but I like Rubio's better.
And what's up with Chipotle? As Oerdin said, why fill it up with rice and beans just to make them look and feel big? Cheap filler is right. The burritos in the SF Bay area are like that, too. No, thanks.

When you eat a chipotle burrito, at the end you are left with a "stump" of tortilla and rice!

Amen, brother man. I have gotten in so many arguments over at ChowHound with stuck of bay area people insisting their junk filler burritos were the best. Now, maybe it is just because I grew up in San Diego but I am very picky about my burritos and I have very specific ideas about what is good and what is bad. In the bay area they STEAM (!!!) their tortillas so that they become a soggy mess instead of lightly toasting them as we do in San Diego. That's why crappy bay area burritos have to be wrapped in tin foil because the soggy tortilla will fall apart if lifted without it; compare that to the toasted tortilla which holds its shape well and doesn't easily get soggy from the juices in the burrito.
That's a clear win for San Diego style burritos just on a basic functional and test level then you add in that our burritos are much more authentic (I dispise the "California Burrito" which was designed up north, it's like fake Italian food... Go ahead and try to feed it to someone who knows what real Italian food should taste like), in San Diego when you order a carne asada burritto then you know they will give you a burrito which is 90% carne asada. It's truth in advertising. Compare that to the bay area burrito which is 90% rice and beans with just a simgeon of carne asada and yet those fakers dare to claim they've given you a real carne asada burrito.
