Career in Criminal Justice
Hi guys,
I just moved to Escondido, California a few months ago. I am having a hard time finding a job, so sent out my documents and decided to see if my luck would turn for the better in the education sector. My real passion is in writing. I'm creative, imaginative, good with words. But I know writing doesn't pay much, not without a healthy dose of experience anyway. So I decided to consider studying Criminal Justice, it was that or nursing (a career which haunted my dreams for weeks, because everybody else recommended it as "the job for immigrants", until I decided to listen to my heart and voted against it). But i don't know which school offers quality education without damaging my financial-back for good. I'm also not sure there is a market for criminal justice. Is there?
Thank you in advance.

A friend of mine's boyfriend just graduated from San Diego State Univ in Criminal justice and got a job at a jail. That would not be a bad career choice given the state of the economy.

There are 2 sides to criminal justice - law enforcement: police, prison guard, etc.. and professional: attorneys, criminologist, etc.
The former is relatively easy to get into, the latter usually requires advanced degrees.
Law enforcement usually means low pay, horrible working conditions, and great benefits. It's not for everyone.
Surprised at your view about nursing, seems like an excellent field, much better than being a prison guard or a cop to me.

Nursing might bean excellent field, but I don't think it's ever good to go against your heart when it comes to employment unless you value money much more than job satisfaction.
