Default Need comparison of Denver to San Diego

Hi All,

I am from Denver and have lived here all my life. I'm 25 and looking to move to California for a change in weather and scenery. I'm hoping someone who has lived in both Denver and San Diego can describe some of the differences.

I'm looking for a somewhat urban place. How does San Diego compare to Denver in this regard? What about culture, things to to, the attitudes, etc?

How large is the downtown of San Diego compared to Denver? Are there good clubs, great places to eat, etc?

Are people in San Diego more laid back than Denver? I tend to like a fast-paced lifestyle. Denver itself isn't too fast-paced.

I'm liberal, atheist, and a computer programmer. Do you think I'd fit in?

Would I be able to get a fairly nice 1 bedroom apartment for $1500/mo, or a decent home for 300k?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

San Diego is urbanizing, but overall is very suburban.

Downtown SD is small. There is plenty to do - lots of upscale dining and entertainment

SD is known for being very laid-back.

Stick to the central SD city neighborhoods - you'll fit right in

Renting a 1BR for 1500 will be fine, you should be able to get a nice place for that money. 300k will get you a modest 1BR condo in a modest area or far out in exurbia.
