Commuting from Solana Beach,c ato El Segundo,ca
I am considering a move to Del Mar, CA, however, my job is in El Segundo,ca. I work three days a week and would be willing to make the commute for short while before finding a job in San Diego. What is the commute like between these two cities? I do not want to do it in my vehicle preferably. I want to use public transportation. the best that I could come up with is driving to the Metrolink station in Oceanside to Norwalk. then somehow transfering (bus or personal car) to the Green
Line in Norwalk and then continuing with the green line to El Segundo. How long would this take? Or is it better to drive up the 5 then use the toll road from San Clemente to Long beach and then continuing on the 405 to El Segundo. How long would that take?

This commute is just not possible. Your looking at three hours each way. The only option would be to fly out of Palomar to LAX.

If you drive off hours you could do it in 2 hours. Under normal LA commute conditions it will take you 3. Toll road won't save you from the clusterf$k that is the 405

If you do this commute, you should earn an award. Or hazard pay, take your pick. Seriously though, this would be a nightmare. I have a friend whose wife commutes from La Costa to Commerce. She takes the Metrolink, and it takes 2 hours I think. So it can be done. But it doesn't sound like much fun. I sure wish you luck.

That drive reminds me of my cousin's husband that commutes from New Haven, CT to NYC every day... in his own car. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the replies. i figured it would hell either driving toll roads or using public transportation. Another option is vanpool in the off hours, I am fairly sure our company has one coming from Oceanside. There are van pools from victorville that leave at 3:30am,so people do it somehow. What is the commute like from Oceanside to Solana Beach at lets say 4-4:30pm? is that bad?

IMO, if you need to take a vanpool at 3:30am everyday to get to work, then you're paying too high a price to live in CA. Move out of state where you can have a better quality of life.

Looking for condo/townhouse in community outside of Solana Beach
My daughter currently rents in Solana Beach and is looking to purchase townhouse or condo nearby. She works in San Diego and wants a 25-30 minute commute.
Anyone know of area less expensive than Solana Beach? Condos start at over $1M

Just about anywhere in the county is going to be cheaper than Solana Beach, which is still one of the most expensive housing markets. Nearby, you'd probably find Encinitas and Carlsbad cheaper, but not necessarily "cheap."
