I am from San Diego and reading your post on the Madison forum, while sitting at work in Chula Vista, the area you were considering moving to.

It is only sad for me as I see weather as the reason you were trying to escape.

Eastlake is awesome. A safe place, with good schools, and close to National City. For $500k - you can buy a really nice place.
