We really enjoyed Myrtle beach, but then we had to drive 2 hours to get there, so just getting to the ocean made it worth the trip. The beach was really nice and clean, the water nice and warm great place to hang out with the family. Away from the beach no comparison with SD, there's just just so much to do here.

The only benefit is when you visit Myrtle Beach if there ever is a contest of who has the most teeth in their mouth, you will have all the locals beat.

It's a cheap, hot mess on the beach. Also, there is no really quick access to get there. No freeways take you directly there. A lot of local highways and two lane roads.

If you have your heart on going to a beach in the south with a lot to do, I'd go to Charleston. Ton of history, nice beaches, more upscale and a lot more to do than in MB.

But all things being equal, unless you have a real desire to see the south, it's not a fair contest.

The traffic lights have to be on wires, due to the hurricanes.

If they were fixed, they have a lot of downed street lights during any kind of hurricane.

I've been to Charleston. I wasn't that impressed. There wasn't much to do there, at least to my liking.
