How is the Job Market for IT/IS Pros in San Diego?
After moving to Phoenix, mainly for family reasons, I realized it wasn't for me. Job market sucked even 2 years ago and now, after several months of endless submissions, I do not get a callback even for the crappy jobs in my field. I am convinced most job posting are either spam or placed by recruiters fishing for potential candidates or braindead, temp jobs that pay so low that it'd not worth commuting for.
Since I am not able to find a job in Phoenix despite having a solid 9 years experience in my field, I feel I need to move somewhere that is cooler and also has a more lucrative job market in my field.
I lived 15+ years in OC so naturally I was considering moving back there but I am also considering SD since I noticed more job postings there.
Anyone has any helpful input on this? I appreciate all helpful responses.

Something that might help people give you advice...
What "IT" field are you specifically in? Do you do DA things, are you Cisco Certified, or are you more into QA / Software programming, or web related things? IT is a very broad field of work. Do you have any experience in Biotech or RF design?

I know what you mean, to clarify, I am more on the system/desktop administration side with a ton of enterprise level escalated application support experience.
I have also done pre-deployment UAT and IT script testing of database driven applications and worked closely with app development teams but I have no professional programming experience per se.
Certifications are overrated for the most part imho but I have obtained A+, CNA and MCSE when I got in the field 0 years ago. I believe my strongest point is being able to learn fast and retain the information and eventually use the accumulated knowledge to improve upon existing system or process.

I'm also interested in what the SD job prospects are like in the IT field. It's a very casual observation, but it seems like the sd market isn't very active right now. My expertise though is a little different than the OPs. I'm a Software Engineer with Java experience in school and .Net/C# since I've entered the workforce a year ago.
I've been wanting to head out to SD for awhile now, but definitely want to get a job before making the move. Is this something that's doable for someone currently on the east coast, especially without a lot of post college experience, or is the market really tight right now?

San Diego isn't much different except for the weather and cost of living. Those who I know that are still employed as IT professionals are relieved if a new quarter begins and they haven't got riffed. If you have an active security clearance that would help if the defense contractors here are hiring.
