My daughter is heading down to San Diego. She will be attending Mesa Community College and I would like her in a safe neighborhood. Any suggestions? A friend she knows arranged for them to live in the Park View Terrace on 54th. I just drove by and I am not thrilled with the area. Any other ideas? We are down for the next two days and would like to get her set up.

Don't see how Parkview terrace is anywhere close to being convenient to Mesa college. Clairemont is just up the road on Genesee ...maybe a mile or so. Lot of apartments and is generally safe. Just stay away from Beadnell Way.

I agree. There is no particular reason for your daughter to be living on 54th Street if she is going to Mesa College. Only if her friend is currently attending SDSU, and your daughter plans to transfer to SDSU does it make any sense at all. I think a move to Clairemont Mesa is in order. There are plenty of apartments of varying quality in that neighborhood.

I've never heard anything horrible about Beadnell Way. It's a street filled with apartment complexes, just like any other area filled with apartment complexes. They were probably built in the 60s and early 70s, are somewhat cheaper, and are should be a reasonable place to live. I suspect aacole is being overly sensitive. Renters on a budget can't expect to be too picky.

Yeah, that's going to be one heck of a commute.

In addition to Clairemont, you could look at Serra Mesa. It's not fancy or trendy by any means, but it's pretty safe and it works. There's also a lot of apartments right by Mesa College.
