Default is Linda Vista dangerous?

There's a home I'm interested in near the 6900-7100 block of Fulton St in Linda Vista, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me any information about that area? I heard a woman got assaulted just this April 2009 waiting near a bus stop...

There are OK parts of Linda Vista, but that particular area is gang central. Avoid.

Yeah.Right next to the park. That's where a few gangs meet up and do there stuff. It's a scary part of the City.Google Map it and go to street view and the area itself is not that attractive.

I taught at that elementary school (Linda Vista)...definitely wouldn't want my son to grow up in that area.

What about area around Linda Vista Rd & Mesa College Drive? I am looking at that area to rent and possibly buy.

Many thanks for your views.

That area and to the north is OK. That is really Clairemont at that point.

WOW, has it really become that bad??? I grew up on Wheatley st. just North of Linda Vista rd. in the Navy housing, and have many GREAT memories from there.
I remember a "Padre Gold" or something like that on the corner of Genesee & Linda Vista rd. and a Jack-n-the box just west of there, and a "tiny" shopping area mostly Vietnamese from what I remember.
I am half Hawaiian & half white (although I LOOK mostly white, HAHA) and the wife is Mexican so the ethnicities DON'T bother me at all!!! I just remember the good times being a kid in that area, of course that was in 1983 when I was 16!!!

I would rent first for 6 months before buying there. That section is very close to the high school, and it may have problem teens wandering the streets, and related crime. It is also close to I-805 traffic noise.

I know condo prices in that area dropped substantially more than other areas. Makes me think people are walking away from their mortgages just to leave that area.

I would also assume there will be lots of condo owners renting to Mesa college students, so expect loud parties.
