Talking Moving from St. Louis, MO to Encinitas, CA

Hello,

We are new to the forum, and are eager to find out more about the area we are planning to move to at the beginning of the new year.

After we graduate from college in December, we are planning to move to Encinitas. Matt is a biotechnology/biochemistry major, and hopes to find an entry-level job in the San Diego area. I am an international business major with emphasis in Japanese culture, and hope to find a job as well. The market for jobs of our majors is significantly larger than in St. Louis, so we have high hopes for finding quick employment. But with the current condition of the job market...who knows what will immediately happen.

At the moment, we are seriously considering to move in to Mission Ridge apartments in Encinitas. So, we are asking if anyone can give us their opinion of the apartment complex we've chosen...we are also considering ArchStone SeaScape in Carlsbad, Windrift Apartments in Oceanside, and Cabrillo Springs townhouses in San Diego.

Any help/advice/opinions will be so helpful to us!

Thank you,

Lindsay and Matt

I know that area pretty well. It's very close to all the shopping (Trader Joes, Target, Bev Mo, etc) along El Camino Real. It's a good 5 minute drive down to Moonlight Beach, the city's main beach. The area is safe, quiet at night. You won't feel unsafe there. I don't know anything specific about the apartment complex itself but I know the neighborhood and it's nice, surrounded by larger single-family homes and shopping.
Good luck to you two on your move!

Hey... I'm from St Louis. Go Rams!

Can't help with Encinitas and don't know much about the local apt market. But I think you'll like San Diego. Try real hard to line up jobs before move out here. The job market is pretty skinny in most of SoCal.
