Thanks sd.u. Wonder though if the air temp will be just a bit too cool?

I'm hoping to make it the beach this weekend as well. It won't be long before wetsuits will be a requirement
I just got out of the water at Cardiff and (sound of taps blowing in the background) the warm water days appear to be over. That was probably the last time I trunk it until next June. The cooler air didn't help, but the water felt mid-60s at best. Bummer.

There was an El Nino in 1982, and the last day I went body surfing at Coronado was November 1. I hope 2012 is similar.

Until next June? What? Almost every summer the water hits the low 70s in July, August, and oftentimes through September, with air temps at the beach that are much warmer than they are now.. Last summer was an exception, but that's also why I refer to last year as "the year without summer".

Ocean Beach. Last week it was bone chilling and it was all wet suits and tourist children. I only made it shin deep. This week I noticed a LOT of non wet suited in water, so I was hopeful. Low and behold I had a great swim. The waves were no more than 3 feet and the water was very clear ( no doubt due to the low surf). I was not chilled at all. But my spouse only made it knee deep before bailing so I call it bath water only in comparrison to anytime before last week. I was so surprised I checked the water temps on the phone and they were reported as 62-65... Felt warmer than that to me. More like way upper 60's

Mission Beach felt a bit frigid - just dipped my feet in enough to feel how it was.
