Indian Tribes "Casino's" major influence in SD
Is it me, or do the Indian tribes of San Diego have a lot of influence in just about every category from political campaigns, to the local economy.
I'm sure many of you have noticed (if you have Cox Cable) the constant blatant advertising of all the Casino's on either TV or freeway billboards.
Personally I think gambling is a huge waste of money, and is wrong.
Do some of you feel that local TV stations should scale back on advertisements from Sycuan, Barona, Vieja's, and Valley View?
It's amazing how insanely crowded these places can get, my friend recently went to Sycuan, and he told me it was really packed, and that there was a lot of people just throwing there money away like nothing.
They get you in by offering free gifts, like "free" buffets on your first visit, $10 shuttle rides to the casino, free playing cards and other goodies that will suck you in and eventually suck you dry.
I noticed that I see Viejas and Sycuan sponsoring many local events, go to a Padres game, and you will see there ad's, or a Chargers game, or just about any sporting event or even local concerts is sponsored by all these damn casino's. I am personally getting sick and tired of seeing all of em. I realize they are a huge part of the local landscape, but do you think they are being a little too greedy, by taking up all the TV air time for commercials?
What other major interest do these tribes have? And why are they so important to San Diego? I really think the indian tribes is what gives San Diego that small town feel in a way.
What do you think?
