Depends.. do you want to buy a house?

if not, come to SD.
if so, Florida.

Thanks for the response!I have more questions now..

I'm not looking to buy a house, so what kind of lifestyle can I expect to have with $50,000/yr in SD (I currently live in TPA)? I have no family, and I'm 25 yrs old.

My concern is that this salary means I'll be pinching pennies in SD and barely gettin' by, is this true? What kind of profession's make this salary in SD, I don't know if I'm getting hosed??

my point exactly --at 25 I'm not necessarily thinking I will live in SD the rest of my life, there's plenty of time for all that retirement stuff, besides I would hope that my salary would increase over the next 30 years...

My work is going to be near sorrento valley, but I kinda like the sound of ocean beach, but as I understand it, that's a long drive?

What area is near Sorrento but has a ocean beach vibe (laid back, beachy, maybe a little hippie)

Really nowhere... OB is not a little bit hippie, it's a lot hippie.

Encinitas, Leucadia are more classic beach town but pricey as it gets and the southbound 5 commute is way worse than northbound from OB ...

True, but Leucadia is probably closer to "little hippie" than O.B.

Thanks for the advice. How far is the commute from OB to Sorrento Valley? How much can I expect to pay for a one bedroom in OB?

My advice... start a new thread about OB ;-)

This one's supposed to be about South Florida vs San Diego.
