HELP! Commute from Oceanside to El Segundo (Green Link)
I am in need to commute from Oceanside. I am currently using my car and this is brutal! What possiblilities do I have to commute from Oceanside, CA (near Camp Pendleton) to El Segundo Green Link?? I understand that the commute would be 2-3 hours one way, but it would be better than using my car..

There is no direct route by train. You can take Amtrak / Metrolink from Oceanside but would have to take a bus to El Segundo, trains dont run along the coast in LA, they run up through central OC.

As per Sassberto's link, the best route is Metrolink to Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs station, then bus to Norwalk Green Line subway station, then subway. Just over 2.5 hours one way. Metrolink trains leave Oceanside at 5:20, 5:50, 6:40, 7:30 AM. If you miss the last Metrolink train, you have to take Amtrak via Union Station in LA, which adds about an hour to your commute. Then, on the way back, again, the last southbound Metrolink train to go all the way to Oceanside leaves Norwalk at 6:50, you have to leave El Segundo at least an hour earlier.

I wasn't referring to myself. I would never do that type of commute, and would move closer to the job.

I picked it because I moved to San Diego from a city that I hated.
