Default Commute time from Mira Mesa to Downtown

I will be starting work next week Downtown, I have to be there at 8am M-F and I live in Mira Mesa. Anyone know what the traffic is like going south on the 805 to the 163 or even the 5 (I can get on at Genesee if the 5 has less traffic) at around 7am? I'm trying to figure out how early to leave for work.

Also, not as important but just curious what the commute time going back north to Mira Mesa would be at 5pm?

Default The later you leave, the longer it takes

I could leave PQ (about 5 miles N of you) at 6:20 am and get downtown in about 25 minutes using I-15 and hwy 163. Start conservatively on Monday, maybe 7:15 - 7:20 depending on how far you are from the onramp. Better to be early than late, and you can leave a few minutes later the next day to compare. 805 can be trouble, but mostly Northbound in the am (people heading into UTC). The 163 through the park is slow (only 2 lanes), and a nightmare if there is a wreck. Getting home...anywhere from 20 - 35 minutes depending on traffic and day of week (Thursdays were the worst).

Is there any commuter bus that will work for you? When I have to go downtown for jury duty from RPQ, that's how I travel.

Even by bus it's only 44-48 minutes.

For Mira Mesa, the Coaster is the best way to get downtown, assuming one could walk to the final destination. Sorrento Valley Station with only 1 stop in Old Town before downtown in about 30 min.
