Looking for some info on the Valley Center area in regards to the High School and general community. We have 5 children, 3 teenagers, and are wondering if there are any places for teens to hang out, or activities (aside from stuff like baseball) available for them.
Any info regarding the High schools would be greatly appreciated, so far, I have only heard pretty negative comments and have been advised to go with a smaller home in the Poway district rather than putting our kids in the Valley Center Pauma district. Thank you for your time! |

Unless you are looking for a rural lifestyle, I would agree with looking south of Escondido. I can't comment on the schools. |

We are looking at a home just north of Hidden Meadows right off of the 15, near the Castle Creek Country Club. So, the home itself is not located in Valley Center, but that is the school district. I am also wondering if there are any Charter Schools in the area.
And are there any shopping malls (coffee shops ect...) or what exactly do the teens do out there! No clue on how long the commute would take either, from Hidden Meadows area to 4S Ranch area. Thanks for your time =) |

Well if your teenagers like pets, hiking perhaps ever dirt biking or horse back riding I think there will be plenty of things to do even building stuff in your back yard catapults and stuff.
But if your teenagers are more of the mall types I guess they would be out of luck. I grew up in the suburbs and all I wanted to do was to move to the country side!! I guess you end up opposite of your parents or your parents choices or something. |

Valley Center is extremely rural, with big houses, horses, orchards, 4x4s, and a lot of space between neighbors. I have friends out there who enjoyed growing up there, but all really wanted to get out after high school. Maybe that's your "empty nest" plan, I don't know. What's the price range you are looking at? You may still be able to find something down in Escondido or even Poway or Rancho Bernardo. Are you looking for any other specifics (shopping, churches, club sports, etc)?

Like everyone said, Valley Center is just rural. I pass it everyday and don't see any malls or nothing. The only bigger thing there is the High School
. I'd recommend Escondido too if your kids like malls and shopping or other stuff that's actually a bit interesting. But I guess Valley Center is good for hiking and horseback riding. |
